Dance Styles

Offering age appropriate training for our dancers in each discipline of dance.  Training exercises are utilized in carefully devised levels, taking account not only age, but more importantly the strength, maturity and experience of each individual dancer. ​

Creative/Pre-Primary
​Pre-Ballet, Tap, Acrobatics, and Improvisation developing skills in: listening, following directions, take turns, and sharing. Exploration in musicality, terminology, technique, coordination, creativity, and self-esteem. Dancers are required to 
have ballet and tap shoes.

Ballet
​A classical discipline incorporating technical exercises to improve balance, poise, strength, flexibility, and elevation. Dancers in our leveled ballet program, study and develop knowledge in classical ballet terminology, musicality, mental focus, self-esteem, and performance.

​Pointe is incorporated into appropriate classes.

Jazz
A stylistic discipline based on primitive and social dances. Focused on rhythmical movements, technique, flexibility, isolations, terminology, performance, and core strength.

Acrobatics
​Flexibility, balance, muscle control, discipline, and concentration while incorporating basic tumbling skills.

​Classes are divided into a tiered system based on age and advancement.

Creative II/Primary
​Second year pre-school and kindergarten dancer learning terminology and proper technique in Pre-Ballet, Tap, Acrobatics, and Improvisation. Coordination, class decorum, musicality, creativity, and self-esteem continue to be explored. Dancers are 
required to have ballet and tap shoes.

Tap
​A percussive dance form teaching syncopation and rhythm. Dancers study traditional and contemporary styles of tap. Technique, style, musicality, and terminology

Modern/Contemporary
​A highly expressive style of dance that challenges the structured dance technique of classical ballet. The focus of modern dance is expression, rather than following a rigid set of postures or technical positions. Modern dance movements are considered freeform and fluid, and are often inspired by other dance styles—like African dance, ballet, and folk dance.
Strength/Conditioning
​Encourages an increase in flexibility, along with strengthening exercises focusing on the core. Pilates and yoga techniques are incorporated in the class. Participants must supply their own mat.
Musical Theatre
Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, love, anger – are communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.
